Using a Wi-Fi USB dongle (WF40/WF50)

Modified on Fri, 14 Apr, 2023 at 1:31 PM

You can activate the Wi-Fi mode on some Yealink phones to connect to your wireless network if no ethernet data cable is available. The WD40 WiFi dongle is limited to the 2.4GHz spectrum, whereas the WF50 will support both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz spectrum.

Activating the Wi-Fi Mode

  1. Insert the Wi-Fi USB dongle into the USB port on the back of the phone.
  2. The phone should prompt you to scan the Wi-Fi devices. If this does not appear, go to 'Menu' and then select 'Basic'. Scroll through until you find WiFi.
  3. Select OK.
    • On the T46U/T43U/T42U phones, select 'On' from the Wi-Fi field by pressing the cursor to the left or right.
  4. Then select 'Save'.
  5. The phone will scan the available wireless networks in your area. Select your office or home network.

Connect to an Available Wireless Network Manually

When you enable Wi-Fi mode, the phone is automatically connected to the saved wireless network based on the network's SSID and password previously entered. If you find you cannot connect, follow the steps below to connect it manually.

Before You Begin: Get your WiFi network's SSID and password for the wireless network from your system administrator.

  1. Go to Menu > Basic > Wi-Fi
    • On the T43U/T42U phones, go to Menu > Settings > Basic Settings > Wi-Fi
  2. To research the available network, select Scan.
  3. Highlight the desired wireless network matching the network SSID and select Connect.
  4. Enter the password in the Password field.
  5. Select Enabled from the Show Password field to make the password visible.
  6. Select Ok
